Evangelistic film night

Important prayer request: On Saturday the Monday cell group will be doing another film + pizza night for their friends. This time we will be showing the film Luther. There are five friends who have said that they are coming, plus another four who have been invited but not given a definite reply yet (including Pinuccia’s ex-room mate). So pray that these people will in fact come, and that they will understand the Gospel message that Luther believed in.

In other family news, Pinuccia had her three month ultrasound on Monday, and everything is going fine. There is a bit of a bulge showing now as well. She also got a job at Trento for every afternoon this week, which is good. Since the regular teacher has the flu, I think the job will be extended into next week as well, since the flu going around at the moment doesn’t last only a week. (I know from experience!) As the person that Pinuccia is substituting is in fact a good friend, she’ll find out earlier than through the official channels, which will make planning next week easier and remove a bit of the early morning stress wondering if she will be called and what job offer will be made.

Ciao Richard, come stai? I see this flu thing has dented your execution of studies but not your enthusiasm.
Saw your blog and request for prayer for the film night. I certainly will set aside time tonight and Friday to ask God to bring those who he has prepared for hearing the word.
Just a small (cheeky?) question: Is pizza that popular in Trento? My Sicilian friends treat it like leftovers, but maybe for students its communal and easy to clean up afterwards. Will these be home made pizzas or do you have take away? One last peripheral question: per quale squadra tifi? especially as you have moved house - or is it in the same support base as before?
    Ok, it doesn’t really matter.
Fantastic news about Pinuccia’s pregnancy - Lode al Signore - a playmate for Stephania! Pinuccia must be finding the flu the last thing she needs - I’ll pray for her health too.
I think i mentioned the family and I went to CMS summer school. The CMS ‘pray around the world’ book available at the week featured your friends Andrew and Sarah Lubbocks and their prayer requests for university students. It seems their concerns are yours: trying to get Italians to read their bibles and having them understand there is a difference about knowing of Jesus and knowing Jesus.
The speaker at Summer School, William Taylor, used Matthew’s parable of the four seeds not as a spiritual barometer of one’s commitmet, but as an indicator that we, you and I, are to faithfully spread (broadcast) the seed of the word of Life knowing that a small yield may result, but not to be discouraged - the parable is prefaced by the parable of the mustard seed to make us realise that even from truly insignificant numbers, a great movement ( a tree for the birds to nest in) will surely flourish. The small number of disciples Jesus gathered, even though he spoke to thousands, is testimony that in the majority their ears were indeed shut up and their eyes were indeed closed. Hard not to see a harvestmultitude from our repective ministries, but from one good seed comes a yield of 30, 60 or a hundred fold. I just thought i’d send this to you to encourage you even if the numbers are low at the film night. Who knows what the true ‘yield’ will be!
Dio ti benedica (or should that be Dio voi benedica?)

Pizza is always good in all of Italy for a cheap and easy meal for a large group. Even when I am in Sicily, almost every time we go out with friends it is for a pizza. When we have cell group dinners, we always order a few take away pizzas. But it is not like getting them from Pizza Hut - these are good pizzas!

For the football, Trento is in one of the nine 10th divisions, so no point supporting them. (I don’t know what competition Lavis plays in, but it would be a lot lower yet.) So I support Fiorentina, as Florence was the first city I lived in in Italy. It is also more fun supporting them - they won’t win anything, but they always find interesting ways to lose, like starting the current competition at -15 points.

Richard - you are so right about the pizza. my mistake. my informant cant eat eat cheese, so most pizzas are off limits, except for proschuitto and racula. The other pizza my informant mention was Naplolitana (sic?) with tomatoe base, anchovies, olives and mozzarella. All of which sound yummy.
Sorry to hear the film evangelistic night didn’t go ahead.
Great news about the babysitter - that will be a blessing!
Has Pinuccia recovered from her virus?
